Jonathan Fox, the founder of the Centre for Playback Theatre, whose mission is building communties of understanding, has been awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Kassel, Germany. The University of Kassel has awarded only four honorary doctorates in its history: this the first to an American, and the first that honors a recipient for both scholarly and artistic achievement.

This honor is a tribute to the global achievements of Mr. Fox who has now led Playback Theatre to thrive in 50 countries and be deployed by more than 100,000 people annually. In a world torn apart in so many places by differences, distrust, and despair, Playback Theatre creates a climate for dialogue by insisting on a face-to-face, human exchange.
