Our Philosophy and Approach

As a national consulting firm, our competitive advantage is our wholehearted belief that "one size does not fit all" nonprofit organizations. From our frontline experience as fundraisers, volunteer leaders and nonprofit executives, we have observed that development consultants do not change their tactics even when trusted techniques are not producing results. True to our name, when Beth Hershenhart founded Innovative Resources, she began innovating, adapting and refining these traditional approaches to achieve better and faster results for the firm's clients.

Building on traditional approaches, Innovative Resources has pioneered a unique strategic action process that crystallizes strategies resulting in better and faster results for the firm's clients. By actively listening, bringing our expertise to our partnership with staff and volunteers and asking the right questions, our process seeks to engage and involve organizational stakeholders. This trademark strategic action process has worked effectively for organizations as diverse as community health centers, private schools, land trusts, museums, historic sites, public libraries, public broadcasting and public policy research centers.

When leadership and stakeholders see an organization as a philanthropic priority and an essential component of a stronger and more vibrant community, we know our process is working to unveil a truly high-impact organization.

  • Innovative Resources was retained by Mr. Bleecker to create a marketing folder to showcase his work and availability for commissions. Called "James Bleecker - American Paradise," the handsome, glossy folder contains several of Mr. Bleecker's copyrighted photographs; a summary of his career and commissions; his Hudson Valley vision; quotes by prominent conservation organizations, individual and museum Bleecker patrons; an original business card, and information about his website and ways to contact him. Innovative Resources was instrumental in obtaining for Mr. Bleecker the cover photograph of Hudson Valley Magazine's 30th anniversary addition, with a lengthy inside article about the artist and his work.

"Innovative Resources approaches prospective clients differently than other national firms. What you see is what you get... and what you get is some outstanding thinkers AND doers who help transform a nonprofit beyond just its financial resource needs."
